A number of card companies credit hours to issue credit cards with embedded RFID (radio frequency ID tags), with the promise of greater security and faster transactions. But on today's episode of Boing Boing tv, hacker and inventor Pablos Holman shows Xeni how to buy about $ 8 worth of gear to use eBay to read personal information from these credit cards - cardholder name, credit card number, and whatever else your bank embeds in this manner. Concerns about data leaks from RFID cards are not new;and some argue that they are exaggerated - but this demo shows how cheap and easy the "sniffing" can be. This episode is part of our ongoing series of interviews with some of the thinkers, hackers, and tinkerers at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference this year.
